Spawned in Birmingham in 1988 by Justin Broadrick (formerly the guitarist with Napalm Death) and bassist Christian Green - The simplicity of the line up characterised Godflesh’s infamous appeal, with the on-stage use of a drum machine and various collaborative contributions from musicians within the industry. SALES POINTS • 2019 will be the 30th anniversary of this seminal record from the hugely influential GODFLESH. • 10 tracks of atmospheric and minimalistic industrial metal from one of the genre’s founding fathers. • Godflesh was the brainchild of Justin Broadrick, a founding member of Napalm Death who played on the A side of the legendary ‘Scum’ album. • Over the band’s career, Godflesh became one of the most influential industrial bands ever, touring the globe with the likes of Ministry, Fear Factory, Danzig and Type O Negative, and gaining influential fans including the likes of Metallica’s Kirk Hammett. • Broadrick has continued to remix a number of notable artists including: Pantera, Isis and Earth, Jarboe of Swans and Mark Kozelek of Red House Painters. • Aside from Godflesh, Justin Broadrick continued a critically acclaimed career with Jesu and Techno Animal. • Allmusic observed: “Never before has the group rocked so hard, sounding tighter as a unit and more human than ever before.” • In recent times Godflesh have returned to the live circuit playing major festivals and gaining a new legion of fans in the process.
