Na přelomu šedesátých a sedmdesátých let se proslavila dlouhými a divokými improvizacemi během koncertních vystoupení. V tvorbě pracovala s vlivy nejrůznějších hudebních stylů od rocku a psychedelie, přes folk a bluegrass, až třeba ke gospelu, jazzu nebo reggae. Rozpadla se v roce 1995, kdy zemřela vůdčí osobnost skupiny, kytarista a zpěvák Jerry Garcia. V roce 2007 skupina obdržela Grammy za celoživotní přínos. Reedice pátého studiového alba skupiny Grateful Dead z roku 1970. V roce 2003 ho časopis Rolling Stone umístil na 258. pozici ve svém žebříčku 500 nejlepších alb všech dob. K dispozici je v klasických verzích na CD a LP a také v rozšířené na 3CD (doplněno o dobový koncertní záznam). |
