The album is an acute display of his stylistic divergence and variety. The spectrum ranges from the legendary Motorman to more subtle pop songs (such as The Spanish Fly, enriched with spoken word samples by Salvador Dali), influences from the Far East (Matin Indien), straight and demanding dance tracks (such as Los Alamos sung by Anthony More) and the industrial finale that resembles a symphony, (consisting of The Sketch and The Thrash), Gold For Iron can hardly be surpassed in its vibrancy and wealth of ideas. • "The way I work is like a film director - first there's the vision of how a song is going to sound. Then the musicians that I surround myself with translate that idea perfectly into sound", observes Carlos Peron. Outsiders occasionally claim that Peron operates like a prison warden, perhaps one reason why his various projects seem so mature. • Carlos Peron was the founder of globally renowned cult act Yello, initiator of the worlds first ever video clip, The Evenings Young from the groups second album Claro Que Si. Following the fifth Yello album You Gotta Say Yes To Another Excess, which was released as the worlds first ever Compact Disc in 1983, Carlos left the group to embark on an ambitious solo career. Many music critics agree that Yello lost their raw edge with the departure of Peron. • Throughout the 80s to the present, Carlos released several critically acclaimed solo records, scored countless films and television programs and has worked as a highly in-demand producer. In 2006, Carlos is scheduled to re-issue his entire back catalogue consisting of 27 albums, which will all be remastered, repackaged and complemented by rare bonus tracks on SPVs Synthetic Symphony label. |
