• 1974 ALBUM FROM LEGENDARY BRITISH ROCK BAND THE PRETTY THINGS NOW REMASTERED & AVAILABLE ON MADFISH
• Led by founding vocalist & guitarist Phil May & Dick Taylor, The Pretty Things, iconic 1st wave R&B cult heroes, created some of the most exciting & innovative records of the sixties, early seventies & beyond. Winners of the very first Mojo Hero Award, the band have been a massive success & a huge influence on artists as diverse as David Bowie, Aerosmith, The Ramones, Bob Dylan, The Sex Pistols, The White Stripes, Kasabian & many, many more.
• The band first burst onto the scene in 1965 with a blend of raw, explosive R&B, their debut album reached no. 6 in the UK album charts. Over the course of several albums, they evolved their sound, highlighted by the release of the first ever rock opera ‘S.F. Sorrow’. They followed this with a string of albums in the 1970's which saw line ups changes & a firm following in the States.
• ‘Silk Torpedo’ is the seventh album by the band & their second without Wally Waller, the group's rhythm guitarist/bassist since 1967. The album is in line with the times, exuding a more glam rock feel, contrasting from their earlier R&B psychedelic work. A solid album from back to front, it offers a new side to the band, beginning with ‘Dream’, an instrumental prelude before launching into ‘Joey,’ a superb combination of piano boogie, crashing drums & melodramatic choruses draped in Hammond organ. ‘Maybe You Tried’ is a glittering slice of glam rock with a simply killer guitar hook from Pete Tolson. Stunning album closer ‘Belfast Cowboys’ displays a fragility not too often heard from the band.
